Safety should always be a top priority and we welcome safety notices from brands. It shows that they are hot on quality control and will act on evidence when needed.

woom bikes have published a safety notice relating to specific models of woom kids bikes:

  • woom ORIGINAL 6 (model years 2016-2020)
  • woom OFF 5 and 6 (model years 2019 and 2020)
  • woom OFF AIR 5 and 6 (model years 2019 and 2020)

The safety recall was published on 5 November 2024 and applies only to woom Original and OFF/OFF AIR bikes as listed above.

Simon Timlett, who imports woom Bikes for the Little Bike Company said:

"The bikes which are potentially affected were imported by us in the very early days of selling woom bikes in UK – prior to 2021. The issue affects less than 40 bikes in UK. We have contacted each and every one of the customers who bought those bikes, advising them not to ride their bike until it is clear if they are affected. They should follow the steps on woom’s crank checker. If any customer is not sure what steps to take, please contact us at [email protected] or call us on 01442 872123."

There is a slim chance that the cranks on these models can fatigue and break, which could result in a crash. Despite the risk being small, woom bikes is requesting that owners of the affected woom ORIGINAL, woom OFF or woom OFF AIR please refrain from riding their bikes until the cranks have been replaced by a specialist.

If you think your child's bike may be affected, woom Bikes suggest you take the following steps:

  1. Find out if your bike is affected, using the Online Crank Checker
  2. If your bike is affected, contact Little Bike Company at [email protected]
