Frog 67
Once your child moves up to a 26 inch wheel bike, you get more choice in the frame sizes, so you do need to make sure you measure your child carefully.
Frog have three 26″ wheel hybrid bikes, and the Frog 67 is the smallest, and is for children with an inside leg measurement of 63cm-76cm. Frog advise this is typically children aged between 10 and 12 years of age, but kids vary so much and seem to be getting taller much younger these days so don’t be surprised if your child is younger than this guideline age.
If this bike is too small, then for older/taller kids the Frog 73 and Frog 78 are larger models.
The Frog 67 is a versatile bike which rides well on most terrains so is a good choice for anyone who isn’t really specialising in one particular type of cycling (such as mountain biking or road cycling).
The bike is equipped with an 8 speed Shimano gear system operated by thumb shifters. The 11-32T cassette should help your Sprog get up most hills.
The handlebars can be lowered or raised within a range of 54mm plus the quick release seat post makes adjusting the saddle height is easy to do. This means your child should get a decent amount of time on this bike.
One word of warning – Frog is very much known as a kids bike brand, so if you have a shorter but older child (particularly an image conscious one in their teens) you may encounter the desire to move onto a more “adult” brand.
We haven’t reviewed the 26″ wheel Frog hybrids, but we have reviewed three other geared Frog Bikes so are happy to recommend this bike to you.
