Cycle Touring Festival 2023
Are you dreaming of warmer days and thinking of a cycling trip with your kids in tow? To get some inspiration, join an online talk at the Cycle Touring Festival starting on Saturday 28 January.
It's the festival for anyone planning, thinking about or dreaming of a bike trip.
The virtual Cycle Touring Festival returns next week
This is the ninth year of the festival, which aims to build the cycle touring community, inspire and educate people to undertake their own adventures by bike.
Many of the speakers, and the organisers, have completed multiple cycle tours of various lengths with children of all ages and there is always plenty of advice and inspiring stories, to help other families get out there too.
nine days of fabulous, free online talks
This year's festival talks range from Norway to New Zealand via Iceland, Mongolia, the Alps, Brittany, the USA and Austria.
Some promising highlights include Timmy Mallett talking about his incredible journey cycling and painting the coast of Britain, Jack Thurston hosting a debate about whether cycle touring has an image problem and not forgetting Cycling UK's Sophie Gordon talking about the new Rebellion Way route developed by the charity.
All the talks will be held over Zoom, and are free at the virtual festival, as the festival organisers state that they don't want cost to be a barrier to participation.
The purpose is simply to do something to make life a bit more interesting for everyone, especially on these cold dark winter evenings.
However, donations are requested from those who are able to offer them, with the suggested amount being £5 per household per talk, or £20 per household for multiple talks.
